Hearing on UW Campus Master Plan

On Tuesday, July 31st at 9:00 AM at City Hall, the City Council’s PLUZ (Planning, Land Use, and Zoning) Committee will hold a hearing on the UW’s proposed Campus Master Plan, which will govern the university’s expansion for years to come.

We know weekday mornings are hard for many people, but it’s important we pack the room – so if you can come, please mark your calendar!

TRU is joining with labor and community allies, urging the City to require that the UW provide full transit benefits for all their employees, build more affordable housing, ensure that workers can access affordable childcare, and more.

This is not a public hearing, because the approval of the Campus Master Plan is a quasi-judicial process; our position will be presented by a panel of speakers from UW workers’ unions and community allies including TRU. It’s vital that we pack the council chambers to show the strength of community support for a plan that mitigates the transportation and housing impacts of the UW’s growth and benefits workers, students, and the whole community.
